At this moment 30 national libraries are full members, but The European Library keeps expanding…
The national libraries of Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania , Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, along with ICCU (the national central cataloguing institute from Italy).
This project started in September 2006. It works towards the integration of the bibliographic catalogues and digital collections of 9 more National Libraries. Most of these countries are now formally full participants of The European Library (since last July).
By the end of 2007, all the digital collections of the European Union national libraries will be referenced in The European Library.
You can find more information about this project via this website: EDLproject
Please note that in the nearby future more national libraries will join. The European Library aims by the end of 2008 to have created access to all 47 members of CENL (Conference of European National Librarians).
Will keep you up to date about new developments….
